Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 4.39%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 4.39%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GCARSOA1), which rose 9.67% or 11.41 points to trade at 129.43 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV:GFNORTEO) added 9.66% or 13.34 points to end at 151.50 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (BMV:GFINBURO) was up 8.35% or 3.68 points to 47.74 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Gruma SAB de CV (BMV:GRUMAB), which fell 0.07% or 0.24 points to trade at 365.23 at the close. Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO) added 0.45% or 0.09 points to end at 19.95 and America Movil SAB de CV M (BMV:AMXB) was up 1.93% or 0.27 points to 14.25.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 179 to 67 and 16 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 3.67% or 109.60 to $3,099.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 5.25% or 3.13 to hit $62.71 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $65.70 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.15% to 20.25, while EUR/MXN rose 0.24% to 22.19.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 102.72.
