Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 2.02%

Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Computers & Peripherals and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 2.02%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ta Yih Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1521), which rose 10.00% or 2.60 points to trade at 28.60 at the close. Meanwhile, GeoVision Inc (TW:3356) added 10.00% or 5.30 points to end at 58.30 and Answer Technology Co Ltd (TW:3528) was up 9.97% or 7.40 points to 81.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Radiant Opto-Electronics Corp (TW:6176), which fell 5.64% or 9.00 points to trade at 150.50 at the close. Formosa Oilseed Processing Co Ltd (TW:1225) declined 3.42% or 1.05 points to end at 29.65 and Grand Ocean Retail Group Ltd (TW:5907) was down 3.20% or 0.26 points to 7.87.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in Formosa Oilseed Processing Co Ltd (TW:1225) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.42% or 1.05 to 29.65.

Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.59% or 0.37 to $63.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.53% or 0.35 to hit $66.15 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.15% or 5.04 to trade at $3,303.44 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 0.14% to 32.49, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.27% to 0.22.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 99.32.
