U.K. stocks lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.09%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Beverage and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.09%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which rose 6.02% or 43.40 points to trade at 764.00 at the close. Meanwhile, International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 3.53% or 11.00 points to end at 322.70 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 3.49% or 75.50 points to 2,237.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were DCC plc (LON:DCC), which fell 6.51% or 330.00 points to trade at 4,740.00 at the close. GSK plc (LON:GSK) declined 2.97% or 41.50 points to end at 1,358.00 and Diageo PLC (LON:DGE) was down 2.71% or 59.00 points to 2,118.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1051 to 717 and 578 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.03% or 33.09 to $3,261.09 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.71% or 1.68 to hit $63.63 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.42% or 1.57 to trade at $66.53 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 0.78% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 100.94.
