Spain stocks higher at close of trade; IBEX 35 up 0.85%

Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Consumer Goods and Building & Construction sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.85% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (BME:GRLS), which rose 6.46% or 0.54 points to trade at 8.93 at the close. Meanwhile, Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA (BME:ANE) added 5.43% or 0.92 points to end at 17.85 and Fluidra (BME:FLUI) was up 3.80% or 0.80 points to 21.84 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Laboratorios Farmaceuticos ROVI (BME:ROVI), which fell 1.11% or 0.60 points to trade at 53.40 at the close. Mapfre (BME:MAP) declined 0.73% or 0.02 points to end at 3.26 and Enagas (BME:ENAG) was down 0.50% or 0.07 points to 13.05.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 120 to 74 and 22 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.02% or 33.00 to $3,261.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.79% or 1.73 to hit $63.68 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.48% or 1.61 to trade at $66.57 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.78% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.66% at 100.93.
