Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.65%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Software and Food & Beverages sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.65% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 1.05%, and the TecDAX index added 0.94%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which rose 5.65% or 90.00 points to trade at 1,682.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) added 3.13% or 0.70 points to end at 22.87 and Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) was up 2.92% or 2.16 points to 76.02 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG), which fell 6.82% or 8.45 points to trade at 115.40 at the close. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) declined 5.74% or 4.72 points to end at 77.58 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) was down 2.21% or 0.58 points to 25.65.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 8.84% to 72.05, Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which was up 6.10% to settle at 111.30 and RENK Group AG (ETR:R3NK) which gained 5.34% to close at 55.58.

The worst performers were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which was down 12.45% to 8.26 in late trade, Traton SE (ETR:8TRA) which lost 5.01% to settle at 30.34 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 2.87% to 13.20 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 8.84% to 72.05, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which was up 2.81% to settle at 32.57 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which gained 2.68% to close at 28.70.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 2.87% to 13.20 in late trade, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which lost 2.08% to settle at 33.83 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 1.42% to 229.40 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 323 to 300 and 36 ended unchanged.

Shares in Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) rose to all time highs; up 2.92% or 2.16 to 76.02. Shares in Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) rose to all time highs; up 6.10% or 6.40 to 111.30.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.45% to 18.74.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.04% or 33.11 to $3,221.41 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.36% or 1.49 to hit $61.66 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.35% or 1.55 to trade at $64.54 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 100.67.
