Italy stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com Italy 40 up 0.09%

Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 added 0.09% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Leonardo SpA (BIT:LDOF), which rose 4.02% or 1.83 points to trade at 47.31 at the close. Meanwhile, Hera (BIT:HRA) added 2.24% or 0.09 points to end at 4.11 and Italgas SpA (BIT:IG) was up 2.18% or 0.16 points to 7.26 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Iveco Group NV (BIT:IVG), which fell 2.71% or 0.44 points to trade at 15.78 at the close. Pirelli & C SPA (BIT:PIRC) declined 2.61% or 0.16 points to end at 5.97 and Prysmian SpA (BIT:PRY) was down 1.92% or 1.08 points to 55.22.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 283 to 271 and 45 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for June delivery was down 2.36% or 1.49 to $61.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 2.33% or 1.54 to hit $64.55 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 1.03% or 32.96 to trade at $3,221.26 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 100.69.
