France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.34%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.34%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.30%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 3.39% or 0.74 points to trade at 22.43 at the close. Meanwhile, Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) added 2.49% or 0.21 points to end at 8.74 and Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) was up 2.37% or 3.86 points to 166.44 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF), which fell 3.25% or 2.88 points to trade at 85.86 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) declined 1.85% or 0.62 points to end at 32.87 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was down 1.70% or 1.00 points to 57.76.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which rose 4.10% to 43.41, X Fab Silicon Foundries EV (EPA:XFAB) which was up 3.85% to settle at 5.26 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which gained 3.39% to close at 22.43.

The worst performers were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was down 4.16% to 2.86 in late trade, Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) which lost 3.25% to settle at 85.86 and Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was down 2.09% to 37.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 246 to 219 and 98 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.73% or 24.65 to $3,372.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.78% or 1.11 to hit $63.63 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.69% or 1.09 to trade at $65.72 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.45% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 99.16.
