China’s commerce minister says he met Nvidia CEO Huang in Beijing

Investing.com-- China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao said on Friday that he met with Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang in Beijing this week, reaffirming China’s support for foreign investment in the country.
The meeting came during Huang’s visit to attend a supply chain expo in the Chinese capital.
Wang said Huang had been dominating social media during his stay, reflecting strong public interest. However, he did not disclose specifics of their conversation.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Huang said Chinese officials welcomed continued investment from foreign firms, including Nvidia, which plays a central role in global AI development. He also praised Chinese AI models as “world-class.”
Huang said he had a “wonderful meeting” with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng,
The visit highlights Nvidia’s efforts to maintain ties with China, its key market, amid ongoing U.S. export restrictions on advanced chips used in AI and supercomputing.
Earlier this week, Nvidia said it will resume selling its H20 processor in China “soon,” amid improving trade relations between Washington and Beijing.
