India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.30%

Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.30%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.38%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Titan Company Ltd (NSE:TITN), which rose 2.05% or 68.70 points to trade at 3,425.00 at the close. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE:INBK) added 1.73% or 13.95 points to end at 818.00 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NSE:MRTI) was up 1.44% or 178.00 points to 12,543.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NSE:APSE), which fell 1.96% or 27.20 points to trade at 1,361.70 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NSE:RELI) declined 1.52% or 21.50 points to end at 1,390.00 and Infosys Ltd (NSE:INFY) was down 1.38% or 20.50 points to 1,460.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 2.16% to 3,426.30, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 1.51% to settle at 816.00 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 1.50% to close at 12,549.00.

The worst performers were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was down 2.02% to 1,362.50 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 1.52% to settle at 1,389.90 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.37% to 1,460.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1487 to 907 and 38 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2178 fell and 1695 advanced, while 146 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.59% to 11.66.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.47% or 16.00 to $3,410.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.16% or 0.77 to hit $65.52 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.00% or 0.69 to trade at $68.07 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.14% to 87.79, while EUR/INR fell 0.20% to 101.29.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 98.82.
