Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.87%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.87% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (BMV:BOLSAA), which rose 4.33% or 1.51 points to trade at 36.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GCARSOA1) added 4.16% or 4.94 points to end at 123.75 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES) was up 3.59% or 13.88 points to 400.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Arca Continental , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:AC), which fell 3.21% or 7.06 points to trade at 213.16 at the close. Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A (BMV:KIMBERA) declined 1.93% or 0.64 points to end at 32.52 and Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ELEKTRA) was down 1.74% or 6.09 points to 343.95.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 154 to 57 and 15 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.40% or 44.00 to $3,190.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.67% or 0.48 to hit $70.72 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.53% or 0.39 to trade at $73.33 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.03% to 20.20, while EUR/MXN fell 0.34% to 21.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 103.34.
